Duke Guapos Spicy Meat Hut is a chain of restaurants in the United States known for only using animal derived ingredients in all of its dishes.  The restaurant chain traces its history to an immediately post Civil War organization called the Indiana Spiced Meat Consortium, which operated a number of small shacks selling jerky throughout the Midwest.  In 1887, Dr. Abelius Carmichael purchased the rights to the consortium's "Jerky Shacks" and expanded the menu to include more than just dried meats.  Carmichael had operated a sanatorium in which he extolled the virtues of a meat rich diet, and he had been seeking a way to expose the wider public to his philosophies.

In 1887, Dr. Abelard Carmichael purchased the rights to the consortium's "Jerky Shacks" and expanded the menu to include more than just dried meats.
