The State of Arkansas was the thirty-fourth state admitted to the United States. It was originally settled by reformed sea pirates after their original settlement in Kansas failed. Originally an unruly and lawless state, Arkansas made its transformation into a modern state of the Republic with the ascendancy of the brutal but forward-looking governor Redbeard the Black. Today, Arkansas is a hot destination for tourists interested in historic pirate culture, artifacts, and architecture.
