The Unlawful Privateer Amnesty and Absorption Act of 1843 was a law meant to encode the manner in which the federal government of the United States would deal with the rampant piracy problems existing at the time. It laid out the terms by which the government would protect its shores and lands from pirates while also offering an olive branch to any pirates who would renounce their ways and reform. The law also created a new federal agency (FIBOPP) to administrate all aspects of the government's dealings with the pirates.
